“If You Had My Love” is song by Jennifer Lopez released in 1999 as the lead single from her debut studio album On the 6. Written by LaShawn Daniels, Cory Rooney, Jennifer Lopez, Fred Jerkins III and its producer Rodney Jerkins, this track has a mid-tempo pop and R&B vibe mixed with Latin and hip-hop influences.
Beginning her career as an actor, Lopez's breakthrough role in the biographical film “Selena” in ‘97 was the spark that led to the launch of her music career. The single was well received not only by music critics praising its silky groove and edgy production, but commercially as well across the air waves evident by its success on the US Billboard Hot 100 peaking at no.1 for five consecutive weeks and selling over 1.2 million copies in the US alone. The song also received international success across Australia, Canada, Finland, Greece, Hungary and New Zealand, cementing it as one of the best-selling singles of 1999.
The music video directed by Paul Hunter also received heavy play on MTV networks and was nominated for 4 MTV Video Music Awards and 5 Billboard Music Awards. If You Had My Love is definitely an R&B Classic and considered as one of Lopez’s best songs.
